If you are planning to change your hairstyle, think about a style that enhances the volume of your hair without the use of product that will only weigh it down. Keep hair to shoulder length or shorter and layers create an illusion of thickness. Unless your hairdresser is very experienced in razor cutting avoid the technique as the razor will cause strands to be ‘flyaway’, a problem people with fine hair don’t need!
Maintain your new haircut by using a volumizing shampoo that will add body and fullness. Make sure you only use a small amount of shampoo per wash as product build-up will lead to flat, greasy hair. Finish your shampoo with a blast of cool water which closes the hair cuticle and helps it to swell slightly.
If your hair tends to knot and tangle, apply a very light leave-in conditioner or detangling spray only to the problem area. One mistake that is often made is finishing with heavy hairspray. Either go without or use sparingly.
