In 1969 a purse was born that inspired love in all the women all over the world. A creation of Paco Rabanne, the 69 purse, that rapidly turned into the new idol of the fashion world and that the emblematic Brigitte Bardot was the first one wearing it. In addition, this distinctive stamp of Paco Rabanne was chosen by the Museum of the Design of London as one of the ” 50 purses that changed the world “.
Today, four decades later the purse returns trying to regain its place, since the Paco Rabanne firm has adapted this creation in order that every woman could have her own model. This accessory is available in nine models, all of them handmade in France, but as the design of 69 may lacks details, only the eclecticism of the materials marks the difference. It has been a joint effort with Comme des Garcons stores, specially thanks to the latter’s creative director Rei Kawakubo.
The lovers of exotic accesories will find it in striped skins; those looking for something original and different will be able to choose for the rubber, acrylic or tortoise-shell, and for those who prefer the most emblematic materials a version exists in metal, aluminium or steel.
It has been announced that other accessories and clothing will join the purse in time. Prices for the new 69 bags range between $965 and $2200. They’re not cheap, but perhaps the prices are justified to own a piece of history. You can find them in Comme des Garcons stores and other selected retailers.
