Easter 2012, When is the Easter 2012? Everything you need to know about the most expected holiday of the year and the exact moment when fashion starts to change to a more warmer style.
In the year 2012 Easter falls on the 8 of April, being this Easter Sunday. During that week we celebrate holy week, having usually Thursday and Friday as holidays. But, the Eastern Orthodox Church celebrates Easter exactly a week later, on the 15th of April.
History of Easter celebration
Easter is one of the few Christian festivities that are based on an astrological event instead of a fix date. That’s why every year the dates are different. Apparently Easter is a celebration of pagan origins. That’s also why we use to have chocolate eggs that little seem to have in common with Christ resurrection.
The celebration of Easter was set on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox every year. This was decided by a council in 325 A.D. by the emperor Constastine.
The problem is that not all the sections of the Church were present in this council made in Nicea so long ago. And that’s the case of the Eastern Orthodox Church that kept celebrating Easter as they used to do before and still today they haven’t changed.
Easter is definitely the most important Christian celebration and one of the favourites of people around the world as is a long weekend that allows us to relax.
And talking about fashion, which is out topic, Easter is always the moment when the fashion starts getting ready for the summer. Warmer days and hey! It’s time to get out the dresses and get rid of those heavy sweaters!
